Under the Choko Tree By Nevin Sweeney

Choko Tree Friends - Rob and Zuzana

Their place is near Penrith in Western Sydney at the foot of the Blue Mountains and their block is 791 square metres. Their home is brick veneer built in the early 1980’s and has a northerly aspect.

Both Robert and Zuzana have only been gardening since March 2011 when they bought their home. Both their front yard and backyard have many fruit trees (which include olives, cherries, pomegranates, figs, lemon, orange, mandarins, raspberry, loquat, plums and grape vines). In addition, they have terraces in the front yard planted with many vegetables and flowers. The backyard lawn was replaced with their version of a mandala garden (a no-dig circular garden bed divided by walk-through path) that houses many vegetables and flowers.

At the moment they have three composts running.  In the near future they would like to install rainwater tanks and to have their own chooks.
